Travel:

The main concern for the big day is how to get there, how long it will take to get there, and where on earth you're going to park...

By car:

A relatively simple journey which should take between 50 minutes and an hour and 10.

From T&A Towers, in the centre of Bradford, it's onto the M606 following the signs for the M62/M1.

At Chain Bar Roundabout you want to merge onto the M62, where the lion's share of the journey takes place.

Then continue on the M60 and when you reach Junction 6 head on the slip-road off and take the A6144 exit.

At the roundabout take the third exit onto Old Hall Road and continue on the road by taking the first exit at the next roundabout.

Here it gets a little tricky, but just follow Old Hall Road round to the left, before turning right onto Baguley Road (A6144).

Follow on and keep left on Marsland Road before seeing Heywood Road on your left after about 0.8 miles.

NOTE: Swinton advise not to proceed down Heywood itself as you need a car park pass for this.

Parking:

There is adequate street parking in the vicinity of the ground, according to Swinton's club website.

The nearest major car park is the Q-Park Waterside multi-storey (M33 2AE), which is roughly a 15 minute walk from the ground.

But a stay of up to six hours will set you back £6.80.

Train:

There's a Metrolink Station a five minute walk from the ground, but getting there in the first place is the biggest task.

You'll need to make your way to Manchester Victoria, which will mean a stop off at Leeds if you're coming from Bradford Interchange.

From Leeds to Manchester it's 48 minutes on the train.

It's onto the Metroline system from there, taking the Pink Line (to East Didsbury) before getting off after five minutes and two stops at St Peter's Square.

From there it's the Purple Line (Altrincham) for 19 minutes and eight stops where you alight at Brooklands Station.

Exit the station, walk up the steps, then turn right along Marsland Road. Heywood Road is 500 yards up on the right hand side.

It tallies up at a total travel time of just over one hour, using Leeds as the starting point.

A Metrolink weekend day pass costs £4.20 for an adult as a point of guidance.

Pubs:

There's quite a few options for this away day, with Sale town centre only a 20-minute walk away and several choices in and around the ground itself.

Little B: The closest establishment to the ground, Little B - based on Marsland Road - describes itself as a local pub with homemade food and a terrace.

The Brook: If you're coming via train, this might be your best bet, as it's just outside the Brooklands Station. The pub has a review rating of 4.3 stars and offers JW Lees cask ales, as well as refreshing lagers, ciders and quality wines and spirits.

The JP Joule (Wetherspoons): It wouldn't be an away day guide without mentioning one of these. Just outside Sale town centre, on Northenden Road. Enough said.

Others (all in and around Sale centre): Kings Ransom, Block and Gasket and The Steamhouse.
