LOOSE forward Cameron Smith, who is expected to make his Bradford Bulls debut tomorrow against London Broncos, has certainly chosen a good role model.
The 18-year-old loanee from Leeds Rhinos has named former Bulls star Sam Burgess as his hero.
The Pontefract-born teenager said: "When I was coming through, Sam Burgess was just starting to establish himself, and now I watch the NRL and he is just a freak. I hope to end up like him.
"He is very inspirational. Like Sam, I am also a fearless personality and if I have to put my body on the line for this club I will do."
Former Leeds Rhinos under-16 and England under-16 skipper Smith added: "I am grateful to get the opportunity to try and get that win to help us to zero points.
"I wanted to come on loan here previously. I have spoken to a couple of the boys and understand that the atmosphere is great."
Castleford Panthers product Smith, however, wants the Bulls to be a stepping stone to bigger things with Leeds.
He said: "Hopefully to prove myself over there, I have come to have a dig here.
"I have been playing 19s all year and just need that next step of playing against men, and I am grateful that Bradford have given me the opportunity.
"In the Championship, they are full-grown, and some of them have played in Super League and have come down.
"It is faster and the contact is heavier, but I am confident I can cope."
Also expected to get an opportunity is Josh Rickett.
Interim head coach Leigh Beattie said of the potential seasonal debutant: "He has done well in the centres for the under-19s, he has great feet and is fast – one of the fastest in the club.
"He is powerful, has a great work ethic, carries the ball well and has a good future."
