Bradford Bulls Under 19s 4, Hull FC Under 19s 42

Paul Medley’s hopes of guiding the Bulls’ Academy side to the play-offs were dealt a blow after a comprehensive home defeat to Hull FC tonight.

After six victories in their previous eight outings, Medley’s ninth-placed young guns - featuring first-team stars Sam Wood, Alex Mellor and Oliver Roberts - were looking for a win to lift them into the top eight.

But, without the services of players such as Curtis Naughton, Stephen Copeland, Connor Nolan and Jarrod Ward, and featuring a trio of debutants, the Bulls were a distinct second-best to a Hull side who ran out emphatic winners.

After a balanced opening, Bobby Tyson-Wilson opened the scoring for Hull when he barrelled under the posts and Jack Logan soon scampered clear for a second to make it 12-0 at half-time.

Brad Adams finished off a superb break from full back Todd Binns in the right corner to get the young Bulls back in contention but Hull gradually assumed total control of proceedings.

James Cunningham added a third Hull try, Saul Beavis scored twice and hooker Andrew Ward and Logan again applied further scores, with all the visitors’ seven scores being converted.
