Jon McLaughlin proved the spot-kick hero as Great Britain moved into the semi-finals at the World Student Games in Serbia.
The City stopper made a crucial penalty save from Julien Jeanney as the Brits edged France 2-0 in the shoot-out. Two hours of action previously had failed to produce a goal.
Great Britain now go through to a last-four meeting with Ukraine tomorrow where McLaughlin will be bidding for his third clean sheet of the tournament.
