CITY'S Upgrade the Parade campaign was launched by Chelsea legend Gianluca Vialli last month to great fanfare – but what is it all about? Here's your guide to the initiative.

What is fan-funding and who are Tifosy?

Fan-funding works similarly to crowd-funding used in platforms such as Kickstarter.

Fans contribute to their club's fundraising project and in return get a reward. The rewards depend on how much a fan wants to contribute, eg £10 for a wristband or £200 for a VIP match-day experience, with anything in between.

With lots of people donating small (or large) amounts, it makes raising funds a lot quicker and easier.

Tifosy is a company which brings the fans and the club together to help raise funds for investment through fan-funding. The company helps the club drive the campaign through social media and PR as well as setting up the fundraising site and working through all the nitty gritty, leaving the club to worry about results on the pitch.

Tifosy has had successful campaigns with League Two outfit Portsmouth and Parma in Italy and is now well into the #UpgradeTheParade campaign with Bradford.

What is the #UpgradeTheParade campaign?

The campaign was born out of discussions with the club, Tifosy and the Bradford City Supporters' Board.

It was officially started by Tifosy backer and former Chelsea star Gianluca Vialli on February 11 and aims to raise £250,000 to renovate the dilapidated changing rooms – the ones that Arsenal have always refused to get changed in – and install a new state of the art big screen to replace the old scoreboard.

Why was #UpgradeTheParade set up?

Adam Baker of the Bradford City Supporters' Board explains: "The changing rooms are a must; to bring them up to standard and comply with Football League requirements. This is not the Ritz but the team are here to work and as supporters we want them to be as focused and prepared as possible.

"After three years of the BCAFC Supporters' Board, we have had a real insight into some of the hard work which goes on behind the scenes with limited resources to maintain affordable football and competitive playing budget.

"With your help, we can sustain this and also deliver on top of that a brand new big screen to relive those memorable moments and a chance to have your moment in the spotlight, from mascots to birthdays to sponsors; to bring the community together.

"Over the years, the scoreboard is one of the areas we are contacted most about. Now we can make it a reality for years to come. This is a project by supporters for supporters and we are working closely with the club and Tifosy every step along the way."

How is the #UpgradeTheParade campaign progressing?

The campaign is starting to gain some real momentum and it hit the £50,000 mark a few days ago, with people relishing the once in a lifetime chance to get their hands on Bradford City memorabilia and experiences.

As well as the regular rewards on offer, such as limited-edition wristbands, pin badges, signed shirts and signed prints, there are day-long auctions on the Tifosy website.

Previous auctions involved a day of golf with James Hanson, a curry night with two players of your choice and a FIFA tournament with a first-team player.

Businesses can also get involved and capitalise on the campaign by having their logo advertised on the screen at its grand unveiling.

What do supporters think?

Paula Watson, Friends of Bradford City committee: "The club has always felt like a family to me. This campaign allows us to contribute, as you would a family, to better the facilities and to really come together to make a difference."

Richard, fan and Bradford-based businessman: "This campaign will give City the edge we really need to get right back among our local rivals Leeds and Huddersfield."

Ed Goodall, founder of the London Bantams: "16 years ago I had a tour around the stadium and visited the changing rooms, where I saw Neville Southall having a massage on the physio table. I'm supporting #UpgradeTheParade because I can't believe that players are still using the same facilities as Neville was all those years ago."
