I CAN’T wait for the launch of the Bradford City former players’ association.

I’ve spoken to a lot of players and can promise there will be loads of them attending the dinner on March 9. Everyone seems to be looking forward to meeting up.

It’s going to be a “must” do in any proper City fan’s calendar because I can’t imagine they will ever see that many players together from the different eras again.

Future dinners will probably be teams from specific years, so this first one will be unique event not to be missed.

It will be great to reminisce about our days at Valley Parade and hear some of the stories from all different decades. John Helm is hosting and it’s going to be a special occasion.

Looking back now, I wished I’d gone to a few of the old Celtic dinners and caught up with my heroes as a kid, the likes of Jimmy Johnstone.

Unfortunately some of those guys like Jimmy have passed away and you’ll never get that opportunity again to meet them.

There will be City players there next month of all different ages. It’s not just from way back but in the club’s recent past as well.

I know modern heroes like Stuart (McCall) and Gary Jones are going to be there. We even changed the date for them because they were unavailable for the original one.

The do would have been straight up the lovely Yvonne Lawn’s street.

It was just a pity Yvonne couldn’t hang on for a few weeks more in her brave battle against cancer.

Yvonne, you’ll be thought of by many on the night. Fond memories, RIP.
