WITH the Yorkshire Junior League now on summer break, Wyke under 14's had the chance to show how far they had come as a team in a friendly organised as part of Wyke's new clubhouse opening celebrations.

Their opponents were West Bowling, who currently play their rugby in Division Two, with Wyke in Division Four.

Although this was deemed a friendly, there was no way of telling that as Wyke's players were keen to show their high-flying local rivals that they were good enough to compete in the higher divisions.

At the end of the first half, West Bowling led 16-0 but Wyke came out all guns blazing and Connor Fawcett set up Cameron Scott for a try, who then converted a difficult kick for 16-6.

Centre Cain Holdsworth fed Scott for his second converted try soon after and Wyke completed a wonderful comeback with an equally wonderful hat-trick try by Scott, who chased down his own delicate kick over the Bowling defence to score and earn a share of the spoils at 16-16.
