Baildon Church of England Primary School are celebrating a decade of existence with their tenth annual sports tournament on Thursday, February 25.
Previously known as Ladderbanks Middle School, Baildon CofE are carrying on a tradition that began in 1982.
Year Six teacher Matthew Holliday believes the event is vital for the school and community relations, saying: “It’s a great occasion, something to celebrate – primary schools playing sports and coming together.
"We have a close network of schools in the area that support each other.”
Holliday, who competed in the tournament as a student some 20 years ago, added: “PE co-ordinator Don Helme has been here for around 20 years and has organised and been part of this from the start. For teachers like him, it’s special.”
The day will consist of football and netball tournaments, with a number of schools competing from around the area, and the silverware will be presented by former Ladderbanks headmaster Chris Thirkill who was present at the inaugural tournament 28 years ago.
