Pudsey Congs completed a junior cricket double on Sunday, the under-12s adding the Gordon Bowers eight-a-side plate to the under-11 Ernest Jones Trophy they had won the weekend before.

Congs, who also won the Bowers in 1987 and 1988, defeated Harden in the final on a sunny morning at Undercliffe.

The boys from the Britannia Ground showed their discipline when batting, being dismissed only twice in their 20 overs while racking up 109 runs (309-2).

George Gill took both of the wickets for Harden, one being a sharp catch standing up by wicket-keeper Callum Hodson, but in general it was the batsmen who were on top as Ashley Slater (23), Barney Gibson (21), Keegan Moodley (14), Louis Surtees (13), Callum Murgatroyd (12) and Dale Spink (11) prospered.

It was a different story when Harden went in, Spink bagging four for ten, including a hat-trick, as the first-time finalists totalled 307-14.

However, they saved their best until last, Gill (14) and Hodson (29) finding a late spurt.

Other runs came from George Bateman and Matthew Blanchard (16 each), captain John Hill (12) and Joe Bashforth (11).

Surtees took three for eight, Murgatroyd two for 21, Moodley two for 24, Racef Ishtiaq two for 30 and Tom Hufingley one for 13.

Both sides impressed with their batting, bowling and fielding, as you would expect having come through a competition involving 36 teams.
