Former Woodhouse Grove pupil Katie O'Brien has made a welcome return to form after a disappointing spring on the women's tennis tour.
The sixth seed defeated Maria-Jose Martinez Sanchez (Spain) 6-3, 6-4 and Zuzana Ondraskova (Czech Republic) 6-3, 7-5 before bowing out 6-0, 6-2 to eventual winner and fourth seed Stephanie Cohen-Aloro (France) in the $100,000+H (hospitality) tournament in Saint Malo, France.
O'Brien's fellow former Old Grovian Naomi Broady was competing in the $10,000 clay-court tournament in Bol, Croatia and defeated Vivienne Vierin (Italy) 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 before bowing out to Ema Polic (Serbia) 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-1.
