Queensbury have had a perfect season in the West Riding Youth Rugby League's Under-15 Premier Division.

They have notched the only 100 per cent record in the league, which encompasses under-12s right through to under-18s.

In doing so, they have scored 172 tries at an average of eight per game while conceding only 21 at an average just over one per game.

In total, Queensbury have scored 790 points and conceded only 112 in recording 18 successive victories.

Head coach Dave Pearson says: "Our success this season has been built over a number of years and is great reward for the discipline and dedication of the players.

"While containing some very talented individuals, our success is also testament to the great team ethic of the squad who work consistently hard to improve their performance in all aspects of the game."

Not surprisingly, Queensbury have also qualified for the West Riding Under-15 Challenge Cup final at Emley Football Club.

However, new players are always very welcome as the team progresses into the Yorkshire Combination League Under-16s for season 2008-09.

In a sensational contest, an interception try late into extra time by scrum half Leatham looked to have taken Keighley into the Grand Final.

But Kaya Crawford scored in the corner with virtually the final play to give West Hull victory.

Man of the match Ellerby for Hull and Copperthwaite swapped converted tries early on and the sides were locked at 8-8 at the break after adding penalties.

Ben Sagar put Keighley ahead five minutes after the interval, Kris Gott adding his third goal, but Crawford replied and a penalty from Moor levelled at full time.

Another Moor penalty eased West into the lead two minutes into extra time, Gott levelling soon after.

Stand-off Stamp's drop goal looked to have settled matters until the incredible late drama. Leigh Miners' Rangers awaited West Hull in a final between the league's top-ranked sides at the Halton Stadium, Widnes.

Cougar Cubs had earlier defeated Leigh East 22-12 in an Elimination semi-final.

It was the first time that the Cubs had beaten their opponents. Despite dominating the first half, Keighley failed to break the visitors' commendable resolve, although those sterling efforts told late on.

Two Gott penalties gave the Cougars a 4-0 interval lead but they added tries by prop Danny Snowden, who barged over; Sagar, from a fine James Haythornthwaite off-load; and Haythornthwaite himself. Gott's goals completed the tally.

The Rugby League Community Board have placed on record their collective satisfaction at the continued progress of the National Youth League.
