• Skyrac Athletic Club's team scored 324 points in placing third in their second fixture at Wakefield in UK Athletics' Young Athletes' League.

They had ten individual winners and 12 graded performances, with 11 athletes setting personal bests in what is a major development competition for aspiring champions.

Charlotte James, from Prince Henry's Grammar School, Otley, ran a sprint double in the girls' under-15s, Ilkley Grammar's Bethany Cooper was named Field Athlete of the Competition after winning the girls' under-15s discus with a throw of 21 metres and Rebecca Harrison, of Menston St Mary's, won the girls' 3000m.

Guiseley School's Laura Griggs won the girls' under-17s triple jump after a leap of 9.77m.

Skyrac's relay teams won the girls' under-15s 4x100m and the under-17s 4x300m in a fast time of 3min 9sec.

Their next fixture is at Cleckheaton on Sunday.

Skyrac train at Nunroyd Park, Yeadon on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.20pm. Newcomers should head for the clubhouse.

  • City of Bradford swimming club member Sam O'Donohue has taken the step up to regional competition in his stride.

The 12-year-old reached five finals and achieved two national times during the Amateur Swimming Association's North East Region British Age Group Category (BAGCAT) Champ-ionships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

In what was his final qualifying event for the National Age Groups Champion-ships at the same venue next month, Sam reached the finals of the 200 metres freestyle, 200m and 400m individual medley and 100m breaststroke and 100m butterfly.

But it was his times of 2min 16.60sec in the freestyle and 2min 35.96sec in the 200m medley which secured him a place at Sheffield next month.

Fresh from her success in the recent Del Castello Internat-ional meet in Bellinzona, Switzerland, Sian Morgan showed her national preparation is on course when she claimed silvers in the 100m and 400m freestyle and 100m butterfly and came fourth in the 200m individual medley.

Isaac Ehdieb improved on last year's tally of one bronze at regional level when the 13-year-old swam to bronze places in the 100m and 200m breaststroke and 200m individual medley.

National qualifier Ben Balmforth claimed third in the boys' 14 years 100m breaststroke and Hannah Midgley finished the gruelling 1,500m freestyle in 20min 00.73sec to claim fourth place.

Skipton-based James Dawson swam a personal best time by over six seconds to qualify for the final of the boys' 12 years 200m butterfly and in doing so broke the club record by over 2.5 seconds in 2min 43.14sec.

  • The West Bradford School Sports Partnership are holding their under-13 and under-15 secondary inter-cricket finals at Bradford Park Avenue on Wednesday, June 27, from 12.30pm to 4.30pm.

A total of ten schools will be involved and backing has been obtained from Bradford Council's Sport and Leisure Services, while goodies will be provided by the Yorkshire Cricket Board.
