FOUR schools from the Bradford district have signed up to compete in the prestigious English Schools' FA (ESFA) PlayStation Schools' Cup.

Pupils from Bingley Grammar School, Bradford Academy, Buttershaw Business & Enterprise College & St Bede's and St Joseph's Catholic College will be among the 150,000 from over 8,000 teams competing in the 20 boys' and 20 girls' competitions.

The tournament, ranging from under-12s and under-15s, will take place at a number of venues between this month and March, culminating in the finals in May of the multiple-day football festival.

PlayStation UK marketing director Murray Pannell said: "The ongoing popularity of the PlayStation Schools' Cup has been great to see and we're really pleased to continue our partnership with the ESFA.

"Giving so many kids of all ages and abilities the chance to play competitive football in national competitions has been a huge success, and we really hope the players both enjoy and benefit from the experience of representing their school in a high-profile tournament."

ESFA chairman Mike Spinks added: "We are delighted to be continuing our successful partnership with PlayStation.

"The PlayStation Schools' Cup tournaments have proved to be incredibly popular and have given over 150,000 young players the chance to experience the pride of representing their school.

"PlayStation's support has helped us further improve the professional structure we offer to schools all across the country, and we're really looking forward to the season ahead."
