Bradford Grammar School have finished the local netball season in style by winning Bradford schools’ tournaments at every level.
The tournaments, ranging from under-12s to under-18s, were hosted by the school over the course of the season, with over eight teams from across the city competing at each event.
There were some excellent players and very tight matches at all levels, but of particular note for Bradford Grammar School were their under-12s, who fielded three teams and came first and second, with the third team also competing well.
The under-12 A team have had an outstanding year and are unbeaten in all fixtures since January, including tough opposition such as Wakefield, Stockport, Newcastle and Cheadle Hume.
Under-12 netball and sports teacher George Jones was extremely proud of the girls, and said: “We aim to take the girls' success at Bradford schools and use it as a catalyst for further success at county and regional level next season.”
In addition to training and matches, there have been a number of trips aimed to further develop the girls’ - for example, 40 pupils are going to watch a Netball Talent League match, and next year there will be the opportunity to attend a Junior PGL (Peter Gordon Lawrence) netball weekend for the development of national school squads at Boreatton Park in Shropshire.
