The Bradford area dominated the prizes at table tennis in the West Yorkshire Sainsbury’s School Games Festival at Leeds Met University.
Bradford Grammar won the Year Seven girls and both the Year Nine boys’ and girls’ events, while they were runners-up to Horsforth in the Year Seven boys’ event. Horsforth were also third in the Year Nine boys’ table tennis Titus Salt were first and third in the polybat One table tennis event, while Beechcliffe and Southfield were second and third at Level A.
Beckfoot were third in the girls’ basketball, Eldwick Primary were second in the year Four girls’ cross-country and Southfield were runners-up in the disability football.
Brighouse won the sportshall athletics.
All told, 1,400 young athletes were going for gold across eight sports after being inspired by double gold Paralympian Hannah Cockroft, from Halifax, who warmed-up the participants with a Harlem Shake before dancing Gangam Style.
