Bradford West MP George Galloway proudly declared: “I am a supporter of United – Fairbank United!” before handing out trophies to the triumphant teams as Fairbank celebrated a fantastic season.
Both the under-13s and under-11s clinched their respective titles in the Craven, Aire & Wharfe League, with Hussain Iqbal named Craven League under-13 player of the year.
Manager of the under-13s, Pakistan international Irfan Khan, said he was delighted with the progress of the team.
“They are a great group of lads who have worked hard this season,” said Khan.
“Many of them have been together for four years. They are worthy champions.”
Under-11s manager and club chairman Shazad Bashir was also full of praise for his side.
“It’s been a wonderful year for the teams in our junior section,” said Bashir. “All the teams have performed really well and deserved their success.”
Fairbank under-nines successfully completed their first season, along with an open age team.
“The club is a great community resource with a team of dedicated volunteers who work selflessly to provide activities for these youngsters,” said Tariq Mahmood, owner of Mahmood’s fast food chain and main sponsor of the club.
