Having beaten Myrtle Park 2-0 in pre-season, Nab Wood were expecting a close encounter in their opening Under-14 Division D clash in the Craven, Aire & Wharfe Junior League.

But not a bit of it as Nab Wood triumphed 8-2, scoring four goals in each half.

Luke Waddington (4) and Nomaan Iqbal (1) look like making a great goal-scoring partnership, and there was busy and strong support in midfield from Nick Hutton (1), Jack Partington (penalty), Alex Dalby (1), Nikhil Vekaria and substitute Tom Keidan.

Only small slips in composure gave Myrtle the consolation of two set-piece goals.

Nevertheless, Josh Drew and his back four of Farhan Sheik (captain), Charlie Hague, Jordan Fletcher and Ronan Lad rarely put a foot wrong, often pushing high upfield to supply crosses.

In the same division, Undercliffe Celtic notched a thumping 13-0 home win over Settle United.

Ryan Simpson scored four and there were hat-tricks for man-of-the-match Philip Byron and Liam Musgrove, the tally being completed by debutant Akmal Khan, Nathan Bailey and Lewis Searle.

Bradford Park Avenue Under-12s began with an 8-0 victory over Eccleshill United.

The link-up play between Josh McKiernon and Billy Raistrick proved too much for Eccleshill, both grabbing hat-tricks in the first half.

Eccleshill hardly threatened all game and McKiernon and Omar Powell piled on the misery for Eccleshill.

Ewan Pyrah was Avenue’s man of the match for a solid and professional display.

Westwood Jets Under-12s beat Golcar United 3-1 in the battle of newly-promoted Division One teams in the Huddersfield RCD Junior League.

An engaging contest saw last year’s Division Two champions overpower the Division Three winners thanks to a hat-trick from Dominic Anderson.

Horton Foxes Under-11s won 2-1 at Kirkstall Crusaders in their Garforth Junior League debut, but only thanks to Sam Thomas’ last-minute winner.
