Wyke Wanderers under-tens A made the journey across the valley to play Gomersal & Cleckheaton in the Huddersfield RCD Junior League Cup, and returned with a 4-0 victory.

Wyke dominated the game but found it difficult to break down the Gomersal defence and had to wait some time before breaking the deadlock, Jack Leach having his shot saved but Stan Cahill being on hand to polish off the rebound.

Leach soon made it two before Jacob Smith got in on the scoring act.

Reece Clay added a well-taken goal after the break to seal Wyke’s progress.

Bradford Warriors under-11s won through to the next round of the cup with a 3-1 win at Kexborough.

The home side took a surprise lead halfway through the first half, and when Adam Worby struck the inside of a  post and Brandon McDonagh hit the other post from the rebound, Warriors must have thought it wasn’t going to be their day.

The opening goal finally came ten minutes into the second half, McDonagh turning the defender before firing into the bottom corner.

He grabbed his second with a replica of the first, and Callum Marshall made the game safe with a long-range free-kick.

Worby was named man of the match.

Both Shelf Juniors under-11s teams were on Huddersfield League Cup duty.

The B team knocked out Batley B, a great team performance culminating in a 5-2 victory.

There were braces from Ben Leonard and Lucas Dance, with Ethan Tempest also on target.

The A team progressed with a 6-0 victory over Lindley Lightning.

After some great saves and clearances by Lindley, a good finish by Jordan Harrison midway through the first half finally broke the deadlock.

Further goals followed from Josef Storer, Lewis Fitzpatrick, Harrison Williams and two from Alex Swinbank.

Dudley Hill Rangers under-eights travelled to Calverley A but a below-par Keybury Junior League performance was punished with a heavy 7-1 defeat – Luke Jeffreys scoring Rangers’ consolation.

Rangers under-tens gambled on a new formation, which produced the goods in a pulsating encounter at hosts Burley.

Man of the match Jake Softley threaded a short pass through to Rhys Hadley, who opened the scoring.

In the second half, a weak corner somehow trickled its way through to the far post for Carl Hadley to tap in from close range.

Stand-in goalkeeper Karl Kwedi was then beaten from distance, which lifted Burley, but with a number of flashpoints in the closing minutes taking some gloss off an entertaining game, Softley managed to ride a few tackles and slip the ball underneath the keeper to seal a 3-1 victory.

Despite two great goals from George Edge and Dominic Parish for Dudley Hill Rangers under-nines, the demons of shoddy defending reappeared, affording visitors Silsden a healthy 5-2 victory.

In the Craven, Aire & Wharfe Junior League, BPA under-15s B suffered a 10-0 defeat at the hands of Sandy Lane.

With an understrength side and no regular goalkeeper, it was always going to be tough for BPA to register their first points of the season.

Man of the match was first-half goalkeeper Luke Taylor.

BPA under-18s A won a seven-goal thriller against Long Lee. Goals for BPA came from David Rooney (2) and Josh Finnan (2). Man of the match was Jack Conroy.
