CAPTAIN Martin Gaffney is hoping Bradford can bounce back from an opening-day defeat to Sheffield tomorrow.

His team return to action at Cleckheaton looking for their first victory as they host Halifax-Huddersfield on the back of a 26-10 loss at Doncaster Golf Club.

Gaffney remains upbeat despite the reversal against Sheffield, who won the Yorkshire Inter-District League title last season.

He said: "While it was disappointing to lose, it was closer than the match result suggested. Seven matches went down to the last so, though they won heavily, a lot of the individual matches were close.

"Sunday is a game we need to win if we are to entertain hopes of winning the league. We have a good squad with quite a strong Cleckheaton representation."

Representing the host club are Andy Busfield, Chris Green, Jamie Lavin and Oliver Tasker.

Bradford team: Dane Bairstow (West Bradford), Mark Birkett (Baildon), Terry Brushwood (Bingley St Ives), Andy Busfield (Cleckheaton), Jordan Clements (Northcliffe), George Grant (Bradford), Chris Green (Cleckheaton), Rob Hillas (Bingley St Ives), Jamie Lavin (Cleckheaton), Darren Rands (Bingley St Ives), Ben Rhodes (Woodhall Hills), Oliver Tasker (Cleckheaton).
