Second-from-bottom Bradford & Bingley’s position in National League Two North

At least the Bees have been boosted by the news that Nic Corrigan has been appointed to the newly-created position of director of coaching, working alongside head coach Stuart Dixon.

Ronnie Kelly will continue to work with the forwards.

Corrigan, who is also a qualified rugby league coach, will be working with all sections to develop coaches and enhance players' performance.

Both Corrigan and Dixon will be involved in player recruitment for the 2010-11 season.

Kelly will be taking more of a leading role with the forwards across all the senior teams, including leading the way in new areas with the first team.

He will also be developing his coaching pathway towards becoming UKCC qualified and start to work on a personal development plan that will also be exposed to other areas of coaching.

Corrigan said: "It is important for me to thank the trust invested in myself and the coaching team by the rugby committee and the work that they have done to get us to this point.

"This is an exciting time for the club and I. Establishing a coaching structure from top to bottom of our club will enable us to develop a player pathway more effectively within the whole and within the principles of long-term athletic development.

"The overall aim is not for Stuart, Ronnie or I to sit at first-team level alone.

"Working with other coaches, we want to create a 'Bees' way of rugby with a blueprint for the whole club.

"It is ignorant to think that the three of us can win on our own! The work of volunteers and the strength of numbers that the junior section holds prove that this club has blood in its veins.

"It is my job to plan that progression and find anyone the right playing outlet in the right environment here at the Bees.

"This can't be done by one person - the support of people at levels is pivotal to our success and the success of our structure.

"I look forward to working with the club to achieve regular success at all levels."

Monday, May 10 will be the first opportunity for the interested members to discuss what they feel they can bring to all of the Bees' squads.

Corrigan will give a presentation and allow others to express how they want to play a part in the continuing health of the club.

If players are interested in attending this meeting, they should confirm their attendance to Richard Smith as soon as possible.
