BRADFORD & Bingley may not have picked up any points in their 33-14 home defeat against Driffield, but other results meant that they are safe in North One East for another season.

Bottom two Northern and West Hartlepool cannot catch the Bees and, although Saturday’s opponents Percy Park can overtake the Wagon Laners with a five-point win in Bingley, Dinnington are on the same number of points and wins as Martin Whitcombe’s men but the Bees have crucially also got a draw.

Driffield, chasing a play-off place, took an early lead with a Ben Dinsdale try and conversion but the hosts went ahead via two tries in four minutes by Corey Spencer and Richard Tafa, both of which were converted by Tom Cummins.

However, that 14-7 advantage was as good as it got for the Bees, who trailed 21-14 by half-time as Craig Gray and Sam Furbank bagged tries for the visitors, with Dinsdale landing both conversions.

In the second half, Driffield added tries by Gray and Gary Stephenson, with Dinsdale converting one.
