Preston Grasshoppers 90, Otley 5
Otley’s National Two North status remains in the balance after they were thrashed by a side who are hell-bent on securing the division’s second promotion place.
Their enthusiasm and ability makes them worthy contenders and they were ahead within a couple of minutes. Full back Sean Taylor claimed the first of his three tries and, before Otley had time to settle, No 6 Kilian Wallace was put over when No 8 Dominic Moon broke blind from a scrum.
Moon scored the first of seven tries when the visitors were driven back from a line-out.
Strong running and excellent support play were ripping Otley apart and they lost all the confidence they have shown in recent weeks, losing ball in every conceivable fashion and the home side took full advantage.
Moon added his second before scrum half Nathan Fowles nipped in with a try just before the break to add to his ten conversions.
Immediately on resumption, Taylor scored and, after two more from Moon, grabbed his hat-trick before centre Karl Fitzpatrick joined in.
Otley mounted a few attacks and found success when prop George Burkin-shaw galloped over but that just stimulated the home side, who responded with tries from replacement centre Conor Murphy and Moon, who scored three in the final ten minutes.
