Wharfedale have announced their pre-season fixtures.

Their annual fixture against Kendal will be at Mint Bridge on Saturday, August 13, while the following Saturday the Greens will be visited by Scottish raiders.

However, it isn’t Stirling County this time, who the Greens successfully repell-ed last season, but Scottish Premier Division One side Dundee High School For-mer Pupils, who will make their first trip to The Ave-nue. The National League One campaign starts on Sat-urday, August 27 (one week earlier than last season) with a fixture at Maccles-field.

Meanwhile, Wharfedale are preparing to give their rugby club a makeover tomorrow (10am) as part of RBS RugbyForce day.

With help from a team of local volunteers the Greens plan to redecorate the chan-ging rooms, replace seating in the stand and refurbish the ladies’ toilets.

RBS RugbyForce weekend is designed to help local rugby clubs help themselves prepare for the 2011-12 season.

The programme provides advice and resources to help the clubs organise a team of volunteers for a fun day that will achieve important goals – be they little or large – to improve facilities.

Wharfedale co-ordinator Toni Birch said: “We’re hoping to have a big crowd of people from all over the local area so we can really get Wharfedale ready for next season and enjoy ourselves at the same time.

“We are also planning to have a barbecue to keep the workers fed.

“Good facilities and a fun environment can be the difference between players sticking with rugby or not.

“RBS RugbyForce will help us improve the club and make it a real focus for the community.

“We hope that this day will really help us for next season.”
