Carlos Hassan, who was first-team coach at Bradford & Bingley last season, is now head coach at Yorkshire Division Three Baildon.

The 37-year-old brings a wealth of experience to Jenny Lane, having previously played for Bradford Bulls, Bristol, Rotherham Titans, the Bees, Sedgley Park and Morley.

As well as an impressive playing career at centre, Hassan has an RFU Level Two Coaching award and will use his nous to develop their players.

Baildon’s rugby chairman Phil Wilson said: “Carlos has been tasked with bringing success to Baildon by coaching and developing all players by improving all areas of play, including set plays, back play, defence, continuity and counter-attack.

“He will lead all coaching sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will take charge of the first XV on matchdays.

“Carlos is really enthusiastic about his latest role in rugby and is looking forward to a successful future with Baildon.”

Wilson added: “There will be a players’ meeting at Jenny Lane next Thursday (7.30pm) to introduce Carlos at which he will outline his plans for the coming season.

“I will also unveil our plans for match-day player kit, new team strips, fixtures and will also answer any player queries.”

Meanwhile, Bradford & Bingley have announced that centre Stuart Dixon will be joining Neil Spence on the coaching staff at Wagon Lane next season.

A club statement said: “We would like to give our warmest thanks to the departing Carlos Hassan for all his efforts over the last season and we wish him well in his next coaching role.”
