Cleckheaton have Carl Mason in the second row at Liverpool-St Helens in North Division One on Saturday.
"John Dudley is unavailable but Carl is a good footballer so he'll be fine, and he has played in the second row before," said Cleckheaton spokesman Alan Bentley.
On the bench for the Moorenders is Matthew Burrows, the elder brother of injured No 8 Ryan.
Bentley added: "Matthew has been putting in some good performances in the second team and it is nice to be able to give him a chance."
Cleckheaton are currently fifth in the table but there has been no talk of promotion, and Bentley confessed: "We have a lot of young lads in the team and they need time to develop without the pressure of National League rugby.
"Anywhere in the top five would be fine at the end of the season but that doesn't mean we will stop trying if we are in a promotion place."
Cleckheaton (at Liverpool-St Helens): R Hayden; S Bradshaw, T Lauriston, M Piper, M Callaghan; O Edwards, D Castle; A Benn, S Worsley, M Chivers, M Smith, C Mason, R Piper, L Hamilton, J South. Replacements: J Lamptey, M Billington, M Burrows.
