TWO late tries from Jimmy Rodgers could not bring Wibsey victory at Mosborough in Yorkshire Division Four Premier.

The hosts kicked a 78th-minute penalty to secure a 22-22 draw.

Wibsey, who did not have their strongest squad, led 10-0 via a try, a conversion and a penalty by Brad Wright, but the already-promoted visitors trailed 12-10 by half-time.

Both sides received a yellow card in the third quarter of the match, with Josh Tordoff having a 10-minute rest for Wibsey, and Mosborough scored a converted try while he was off the pitch.

Rodgers then bagged his brace with tries in the 66th and 74th minutes, the second of which was converted by Wright to give the Villagers a 22-19 advantage.

Wibsey had a last-gasp chance to win it but Wright’s 80th-minute penalty from the touchline fell wide.

The title still rests between Wibsey, who have 56 points, and Ossett, who are on 55, with one match left.

Wibsey host Hessle on April 6, while Ossett travel to Knaresborough.
