WIBSEY maintained their 100 per cent record in Yorkshire Division Four North West, winning a tight but enjoyable derby 13-12 at Bramley Phoenix.
In a game where both sides had their periods of supremacy, the visitors went ahead with a tenth-minute penalty by Andy Robinson.
The hosts replied with an interception try in the 28th minute but were left to rue a missed conversion and penalty by former Wibsey player James Sawyer.
A Robinson penalty gave Wibsey the lead again in the 47th minute and they added an Isaac Khan try on the hour that Robinson converted.
Bramley Phoenix, who are coached by former Wibsey player Vic Potapi, hit back with a converted try in the 78th minute but Wibsey comfortably held out for the victory to make it six wins out of six.
Michael Kite was man of the match for the winners but the contest still proved something of a wake-up call for them.
