National League Two North: Caldy 59 Wharfedale 12

WHARFEDALE came up against a confident Caldy team who punished all of their mistakes and ran in six tries by half-time.

The first two tries were the direct result of missed tackles, allowing Forbes Edwards and Jack Lavin to touch down under the posts, with Lavin converting both.

Wharfedale then came back into the game with the try of the match.

The visitors pressed the solid home defence for 15 phases before moving the ball right, Harry Bullough running a superb line before finding Robbie Davidson, who rounded the full back to touch down under the posts.

Tom Barrett made no mistake from the tee but minutes later Caldy responded with a good move in midfield, with hooker Oliver Hearn accepting a lovely offload and crossing under the posts for Lavin to again add the two points.

Dale handed Caldy the ball at the back of a defensive scrum, which enabled Josiah Dickinson to score an unconverted try, but Robbie Davidson scored his second try for Dale when he intercepted the ball and ran in from 70 metres, Barrett's conversion slipping past the wrong side of the upright.

Converted tries from Rhys Hayes and Lavin rounded off the first half, and in the second half, Royle scored two tries more to complete his hat-trick, with Lavin grabbing another try and converting two of them to bring his personal tally to 24 points.
