National League Three North: Cleckheaton 15 Kendal 25

CLECKHEATON once again lost a game they could have won, and didn't even have the consolatioin of a losing bonus point as a penalty from a central location difted wide with the last kick of the game.

Kendal full back Nathan Woof got the scoring underway when a speculative chip over Cleckheaton's defence bounced straight into his hands for a try under the posts which Glenn Weightman converted.

Weightman then added a penalty to give the visitors a 10-0 lead but for the remainder of the half it was all Cleckheaton.

First Josh Hall added three points with a penalty kick and then Kendal's defence fell away for Jack Seddon to race through a large gap for a try at the side of the sticks which Hall converted.

After further Cleckheaton pressure, Martin Woodhead squeezed in at the corner for another score to put his side into a 15-10 half-time lead.

Kendal opted for a short grubber kick to start the second half and eventually turned the ball over for Weightman to throw an outrageous dummy and sprint through the gap for a try which he converted to put the Cumbrians back in the lead.

Cleckheaton tried to respond but without success, and some poor option- taking and execution thwarted their progress.

Kendal scored again through Danny Barker, and Weightman added another penalty to re-establish their ten-point lead.
