Yorkshire Division Five: Thirsk 12 Wibsey 38
WIBSEY are reaping the benefits of fitness work with their former player Scott Smith.
"We had five sessions with him pre-season, and the first 30 minutes of every session on Tuesday is now devoted to fitness, and our defence is better now too," explained Wibsey's team manager Steve Brook.
Thirsk were leading 12-10 after 48 minutes but did not score again while conceding 28 points to the unbeaten leaders.
Kyle Carter's fourth-minute try gave Wibsey a 5-5 scoreline at half-time, and they led 10-5 after 42 minutes when Chris Clough went over.
Thirsk took the lead with a converted try but that was as good as it got for them as tries followed for the visitors by Bryn Worsley, Clough, skipper James Brown and Carter, with Brad Wright and James Sawyer converting two each.
Man of the match was flanker Chris Farley, closely followed by No 8 Brown.
