Doncaster Phoenix 20 Aireborough 22
Aireborough are through to the sixth round of the EDF Energy Junior Vase after winning a well-contested game in windy conditions.
The visitors accumulated a 15-0 lead after only 20 minutes with the pitch allowing a slick, quick ruck and distribution to the backs game-plan.
However, before the end of the half Aireborough were 17-15 down to a Doncaster side rich in size and skill, and Phoenix scored again as they used the wind to their advantage, but failed to convert.
Aireborough continued to contest throughout the first half, flanker Nathan Smith helping to keep his side in the game with his tackles.
But a period of play around the 75-minute mark left Doncaster battered and bruised.
Aireborough, using a set-piece from the training park from numerous penalties, managed to wear down Doncaster from the pick up and drives, almost every member of the team becoming involved.
Just before the end, Aire were awarded a deserved but admittedly dubious penalty try all the way out on the 22-metre line.
James Stocker converted and Aire came away with a valuable win.
