Yorkshire Division One has sometimes been claimed to be the toughest division in the North but Bradford Salem's match secretary Neil Klenk would go further than that.

He said: "I reckon it's the hardest division in the country."

And to back his claim up, Klenk pointed out that there was only an 11-point gap between leaders York and bottom duo Malton and Norton and Old Brodleians.

Klenk added: "Normally you get one side that is running away with it and another side who are real rubbing rags but I genuinely believe that any side can beat any other in this division."

Third-placed Salem, who are at Old Brodleians tomorrow, have flanker Steve Cowman on the bench because of an ankle injury, Mark Viner stepping up after illness.

Keighley field fly half Chris Meehan at scrum half and have Dave Pullen back hooking at home to Huddersfield YMCA but have injury doubts over brothers Leigh and Ollie Sugden. Baildon, at bogey side Roundhegians in Yorkshire Three, recall winger Hayden Lister after a pelvic injury.

This week's heavy rain means that Bradford & Bingley have little chance of playing their National League Two game against leaders Esher at Wagon Lane tomorrow.

"The water has already reached the dug outs," said Bees flanker Neil Spence yesterday.

"If there is any more rain between now and tomorrow I cannot see it being on, unless we want to play water polo!"

A pitch inspection is scheduled for this afternoon.

Assuming that they have dried out from the monsoon conditions at Blackheath, Wharfedale field an almost unchanged side at home to first-time visitors Cambridge.

Rob Baldwin is available and takes over the No 8 shirt from Andrew Clements.

Cambridge were surprise victors last Saturday over Henley, by all accounts beating them up front.

Cleckheaton are missing their talismanic No 8 Richard Sawyer for their National League Three North game at rock-bottom Orrell.

He damaged shoulder ligaments during last Saturday's crucial 19-13 home victory over Macclesfield, which ironically moved the Moorenders down a place to second-from-bottom.

Sawyer was replaced by fellow Rotherham Academy product James Waterhouse, and Cleckheaton spokesman Alan Bentley said: "Ideally we want both of them in our back row because they give us such great go-forward, to use rugby league parlance."

Kenny Sewell is at scrum half because Adam Drage has a hamstring injury and Dominic Castle has only just started training after a back injury..
