Cleckheaton have added more steel to their first-team squad with the signing of four players from Rotherham.

In addition to former Cleckheaton player Craig West, also coming up from the Earth Titans are full back or centre Duncan Richardson, centre Geoff Griffiths and second row James Waterhouse.

"I don't know whether they have come on loan or for the longer term but it is a boost at just the right time," said Cleckheaton spokesman Alan Bentley.

"When you have only won four games all season then heads can go down but this is a definite lift for us.

"It's just a pity that they haven't got a prop for us as well because Carl Mason is getting married tomorrow and is missing next weekend as well because he is on honeymoon.

"But the newcomers are all members of Rotherham's first-team squad and they are all 20 or 21 and young and enthusiastic."

Richardson, Griffiths and Waterhouse go straight into the team to face Fylde at Moorend in National League Three North but West, who has been keeping himself fit by playing for Dinnington, is on the bench.

"Craig should be good for half an hour but he is also a good leader and a good motivator," added Bentley, The quartet join scrum half Alex Drage and No 8 Richard Sawyer, who have already moved up from Rotherham's Academy, which West runs.
