Just one week after scoring the dramatic last-minute try which earned Wharfedale victory over Esher, winger Scott Jordan has been hit by another cruel injury blow.

He suffered a broken foot in the early stages of Saturday’s 51-20 SSE National League One defeat at Rosslyn Park and now faces another lengthy lay off.

Coach Jon Feeley said: “This is really unlucky for Scott. He missed much of last season with a shoulder injury, and now this.

“It was a sheer accident. A player trod on his foot as he chased for the ball and Scott twisted and broke his foot.

“We don’t know how long he will be out for but his misfortune is an opportunity for somebody else.”

Rather than be downcast at the Rosslyn Park defeat, Feeley saw a number of positives and was particularly pleased with the the three tries his side scored and the way the reshuffled back-line performed.

“We moved the ball wide and executed well but we were always going to be up against it with them having the majority of the possession.”

Wharfedale’s next game is at home to high-flying Coventry on Saturday, which is a prelude to a run of matches against six teams currently in the bottom half of the table.

Adam Whaites returns at full back and the wing berth goes to Christian Georgiou.

Ian Larkin starts at hooker and Lloyd Davies, recovered from injury, is on the bench for the first time this season, where he is joined by prop Jake Armitage.
