WYKE had a debutant hat-trick hero to thank in a Super ninth straight victory.

Youngster Lamech Superville marked his first start for Wyke with a trio of tries as his side went on to smash Wakefield Hawks 56-4 away.

Winger Tevin Campbell was the first to have an impact on the game though, opening the Wyke account with a try.

Then came a out-of-this-world effort from young winger Superville.

He ran into space from acting half and went untouched for his first try.

Superville had a second moments later, but Wakefield responded with a try of their own as their centre powered over from 10 metres.

With Wakefield getting a foot in the game, their arch-nemesis returned when Superville sealed his hat-trick, collecting a fumbled catch from a Wyke kick.

That saw the visitors head into the break 26-4 to the good.

There was yet more debutant joy for Wyke on returning to the field, this time for 17-year-old Callum Scott.

He found good field position and played the key ball to Gary Worley, who then found Ryan Kershaw for the try.

Wyke's stand-in skipper James Cullen led from the front when he went 50 metres and beat the Wakefield full-back in style to score under the sticks.

Another debutant, Jamie Kerr, took the score to 50, after Luke Robinson had scored a try of his on just before.

With the Wakefield side struggling to handle the powerhouses of Wyke, several players combined for the try of the match.

Quick play on Wyke's 20-metre mark saw Scott escape and run 50 metres, before finding Bradley Clarkson.

He was caught just before the line, but managed to flick the ball out of the back to Cullen who Superman-dived over his allies to grab his second try of the game.

Clarkson successfully converting eight of 10 possible kicks ensured Wyke ended the tie as 56-4 winners.

It keeps them four points clear of Ossett Trinity Tigers at the top of Division Two in the Yorkshire Men's League.

Coach Ian Wormald said: "Today was a big test for our squad as we had to make numerous changes with a number of key players missing.

"We brought in a couple of debutants in Jamie Kerr and Callum Scott. We also gave Lamech Superville his first start.

"With all those changes and absentees, nobody disappointed and I've seen tonight that I have a massive squad of players to pick from.

"This Hawks side were no mugs and they have been on the positive end of a similar result last week away at Goole."
