QUEENSBURY secured their second victory of the season against old rivals after a lengthy lay-off.

They hosted Siddal, managing to win 22-10 in a tight-fought Yorkshire Men's League Premier Division tie.

From the off, the speed of the visitor's play was evident as they sought to counter the size advantage of the Bury pack.

This paid dividends when Siddal opened the scoring after a smart kick and collection.

It was then 6-0 to the visitors following a penalty goal just five minutes later.

Bury finally started to click into gear though after feeling the effects of a month off.

Chrisy Raftery darted out of dummy half, handed off the defender and scored under the posts.

Scott Swann added the extras.

The hosts then began to dominate and doubled their lead through Tom Hainsworth.

Moments later, he then added to his tally powering through the defence, before twisting over the line to take Bury into the break 18-6 up.

The visitors came out for the second half hoping to use the slope to their advantage but Bury set out their stall.

Tempers frayed and players were sin binned from both teams.

One Bury player received a red card for retaliation to a kick out at the tackle.

Despite being down a man, Bury never looked like relinquishing the lead though.

A well-taken try from Siddal 20 minutes in made it 18-10, but two penalty conversions from the unerring Scott Swann proved too much for the visitors.

Bury now face a mammoth task, hosting division leaders Bentley this weekend.
