WEST Bowling lacked "Dudley Hill hatred" in their derby loss at the weekend, says Steve Wright.

The Dudley Hill team manager added he was still over the moon with his side's 36-12 home win against their Bradford rivals, as the next league game approaches.

Take a look at what happened in the game here...

Wright said: "It was a lot of build up to it and they delivered on everything that everybody said beforehand.

"A lot of these times, you can get so far up for these games and you can just capitulate, but the lads really followed through in a very tough and dominant performance."

It was a dominant performance by recently relegated Dudley Hill and Wright felt his side were in control from start to finish.

He said: "They didn't threaten us in the tackle at all compared to what we did with them.

"If I'm being honest, it was as if they lacked a little bit of heart for it."

Wright reckoned that the younger players of Bowling didn't have the "magnitude of Dudley Hill hatred" that his experienced charges had in reverse for their opponents.

A massive crowd witnessed passion and ferocity from the hosts, according to Wright.

He said: "I don't think I've seen such a tough performance for definitely the first 65, at a minimum, in my whole time being down there. It was absolutely phenomenal."

The team manager also believes Dudley Hill have set down a marker now heading into the rest of the campaign.

He said: "Without a doubt, Bowling's good start to the season gave them a bit of confidence going into it but, I spoke to a couple of people and even somebody I know who used to play at Bowling who was down there, he said he didn't think that he saw enough Dudley Hill 'hate' in the team.

"They're just a young team that want to play rugby and I'm sure when they're on their day and not in the face of that sort of passion, that'll work against most sides because that's what the end tale's about.

"But, in a close, tight local derby, I think you need to have a bit more about you than just being able to play fancy rugby."

Dudley Hill play middling Shaw Cross Sharks at home tonight when a win would see the hosts move into second with no further action until the Saturday.

Wright is expecting a difficult match-up.

He said: "We lost to them at the back end of last season away, pretty comprehensibly - they beat us by about 20 points, I think it was. So, they beat us quite heftily.

"Even still, it's a fairly localish derby and the games are always quite close and tough."
