BRADFORD Dudley Hill looked to be on course for their first Kingstone Press National Conference Division One win of the season but fellow strugglers Skirlaugh Bulls came from behind to win 26-16.

Hill led fellow strugglers Skirlaugh 16-10 on the hour mark at Parry Lane, only to see the visitors snatch the spoils with three unanswered touchdowns.

Stand-off Nathan Kitson celebrated his return to the club by rounding the Skirlaugh defence on the outside to effortlessly change gear and sprint over with ease.

The visitors' discipline went to pot by conceding a string of needless penalties before Hill suffered a major blow when they lost former Bradford Bulls scrum half Dave Halley with an ankle injury.

The Hull side made full use of their unexpected dominance at half-back to spread the ball wide to see burly wingman Dave Wilson cut inside to reach the chalk.

Then he collected his brace in identical fashion, this time cantering behind the uprights after making the whitewash to leave stand-off Carl Pickering an easy conversion.

Hill centre Martin Southwell overdid his try celebration with a dicey somersault after latching on to a superb threaded grubber from Kitson as the hosts rallied in style. Kitson slotted over the extras to make the score all square, 10-10 at the break.

Skirlaugh pounded the Hill line on the restart to no avail and the stalemate continued until the hosts made a breakout to carve out the chance for substitute packman Andy Walker to pin back his ears on a burst to the line.

Kitson made sure of the extras and home hopes were high that their first success was on the horizon.

Skirlaugh centre Sam Roe cut the arrears when he handed off two defenders, with the conversion attempt hitting the wrong side of the posts.

A limping Halley returned for only a short period before once again leaving the fray. With just five minutes to go the Hull outfit hit the front 20-16 when hooker John Gay changed direction to reach the posts.

Home chances suffered a terminal blow when wingman Jamie Brentley was sent to the sin bin after attempting to thwart a quick drop out.

A try at the death from second row forward Scott Mormon massaged the total further to a lop sided 26-16 tally that failed to reflect what was for the most part a very close encounter.
