Birkenshaw will host Dudley Hill A in the JACK SENIOR BRADFORD CUP semi-finals following hard-fought victories for both sides.

Birkenshaw second-row forward James Gross crossed for a brace and Matty Honeysett kicked a conversion against Bank Top Harriers, who replied in kind with tries from Jason Gelder and Dan Oldfield which, together with a Bob Brown goal, tied matters 10-10 at the break.

Brown then edged the Harriers in front with a penalty before Birky built a match-winning total with further touchdowns from Tim Menel and Liam Darvill, with Honeysett adding full reward.

Brown had the final say when he crossed and added the extras himself to finish the game 22-18 in Birkenshaw’s favour.

Full back Simon Sewell was the Dudley Hill hero, grabbing two tries, four conversions and a drop goal for a 17-point haul in their 25-15 passage against Odsal Sedbergh.

Packmen Ben Cousins and Jake Scott also crossed as Hill recovered after being 15-12 behind at the interval.

Queensbury A reached the HUDSON FOSTER SUPPLEMENTARY BRADFORD CUP semi-finals with a 34-16 win at South Bradford.

’Bury, who were playing for the first time in 11 weeks, looked far from rusty as they lodged seven tries through Marc Driver, Tom Middleton, Mike Boocock, Joe Bryan, Daz White, Liam Murgatroyd and Matt Wood.

Leaders Wibsey Warriors edged out Keighley Albion 6-4 in the key PENNINE LEAGUE match at the top of West Division One.

The match was switched to Albion’s Crossflatts ground after the Wibsey pitch was deemed unplayable and the Warriors’ gamble paid off handsomely as they toughed out a victory in gruelling conditions.

Centre Phil Brain brought matters level with a touchdown after Albion had taken an early lead and it was a second-half penalty from loose forward Harry Hall that earned the Warriors the spoils.

Clayton keep second spot after a hard-fought 10-10 draw at Emley Moor. Centre Simon Giles and second-row forward Jason Woolham made the chalk, with stand-off Dane Bairstow adding a conversion.

Wingman Mark Frith posted a brace as Wyke won their second game on the trot with a 27-10 verdict at home to Stanningley A in Division Two.

The black and whites fell behind early on but it was one-way traffic thereafter, with James Dewhirst contributing a further touchdown and two conversions plus a drop goal.

Sam Kittsen also crossed and Mickey Wormald added three extras with the boot.
