Victoria Rangers 20, Leeds Akkies 36
Victoria Rangers fell to their third successive defeat at home to Leeds Akkies, whose 6-0 lead was quickly rubbed out by Damian Smith’s 11th try in five games.
Akkies crossed again soon after, but Vics replied through Steve Wroe, only for the Leeds side to score just before the break for a 16-12 lead.
The home side went further behind ten minutes into the second half after a well-worked try but kept in touch through stand-off Jason Dodds’ individual effort.
Hooker Scott Watson took advantage of poor defence to score out wide, and with Smith converting two of the tries, Rangers were still in the hunt, but the visitors’ superior fitness saw them score three times late on to finish 36-20 victors.
On Saturday, the Vics host Lincoln City Knights (2.30).
