Birkenshaw, suffering from the ravages of playing twice a week, are out of the Pennine League Division One promotion race after falling 32-10 at home to Ackworth Jaguars.

Birky’s strikeforce of Andy Hirst and Morton Robinson both played with injuries while prop Tony Marshall answered an SOS to come out of retirement.

It was a day for milestones for Division Two champions Wibsey Warriors as they ran in their seventh half-century score of the year with a 50-16 victory of Dodworth.

Mike Derrick helped himself to four tries, which included his 100th for the club in only 69 games.

Odsal Sedbergh finished off in Division Three with a 38-14 home win over Littleborough, with tries from Rob Priestley (2), Josh Tordoff, Shaun Flynn, Jonny Fawthrop, Paul Bottomley and Jonny Ward.

In Division Five, Queensbury A’s winning run came to an end with a 26-22 reverse at Stainland. Winger Liam Murgatroyd, loose forward Danny Giles and Aaron Moore with a brace made the whitewash.
