FULL back Daniel Clark was Queensbury’s man of the match, being outstanding in defence and attack in their 24-12 Pennine League PREMIER DIVISION home defeat against Queens.

Bury soon found themselves 8-0 down against the Leeds side and looked to be in double trouble when wingman John Farr was sent off for giving the referee the benefit of his unwelcome advice.

A cracking touchdown from second-row forward Tom Hainsworth restored their vigour, however, leaving stand-off Billy Naylor to add the extras before Queens posted another effort bang on half-time to enter the second period 12-6 up.

Bury's hopes soared when Clark pegged back the arrears after he successfully joined the line, leaving Naylor to ensure full reward at 18-12, but Queens' extra man proved decisive in the final quarter.

Queensbury A had a contrasting encounter at home to Clayton in DIVISION THREE on their way to clinching promotion.

Bury made a perfect start, with tries from Sam Cheney, Gregg Marriott, Ash Ryan and Kenny Timewell, with Clayton's Matt Baldwin providing the only reply in the 20-4 half-time total.

Ryan completed his hat-trick on the restart and Cheney grabbed his brace, Nathan Daly, Josh Boulger and Michael Boocock completing the 50-4 scoreline that ensured Bury's promotion to Division Two next term.

Victoria Rangers completed their DIVISION ONE campaign with a 17-14 home win against Dalton.

Todd Binns, Cameron Foster and Oscar Woodhead made the whitewash and Aiden Scully contributed two conversions and a drop goal.

Wibsey Warriors gained their first KINGSTONE PRESS NATIONAL CONFERENCE LEAGUE Division Three success with a 29-24 win at Waterhead, while Dudley Hill are still in the Division Two doldrums after their 18-14 home loss against Leigh East.
