The Cougars have confirmed that 12 players from their play-off final-winning squad have so far re-signed for next season’s Championship campaign.

They are Craig Moss, James Haythornthwaite, Andy Shickell, James Feather, Gavin Duffy, Danny Lawton, Ryan Smith, Olly Pursglove, Jamaine Wray, Jamie Shepherd, Richard Jones and Ben Sagar.

The club are also in the process of retaining Aussie Brendon Rawlins, Jake Normington – who was on loan from Leeds Rhinos last season – and Jy-mel Coleman.

But they will say farewell to Will Cartledge, who is set to retire, while Scott Law is believed to be heading Down Under.

Ryan Benjafield is also leaving and it is understood he could be set to link up with old boss Barry Eaton at Hunslet Hawks.

Cougars coach Jason Demetriou said: “I will be extremely happy to have retained the bulk of the squad who gained us promotion.

“These players are desperate to prove their worth at Championship level and I am very confident that all these players will raise their standards again.

“They are the heartbeat and the future of the club and their passion for Keighley will impress our new recruits.

“I would like to give thanks to all the players who are moving on to pastures new and have been part of a successful season down at Cougar Park.

“They have all contributed to our success and will always be remembered by the Cougars fans.

“Special mention to Ryan Benjafield, who has been a model professional and a pleasure to coach. He has been a good performer for the Cougars over a number of years and I wish him well for the future.”
