Departing Cougars boss Barry Eaton is hoping for a send-off to remember in Sunday's Peter Fell Memorial (3.30pm).

Weather permitting, the game against a Keighley Amateur Select XIII will be his last in charge after four years in the Cougar Park hot seat. Eaton is leaving to take up a role as assistant coach at Super League club Crusaders and sees the match as a chance for a final farewell.

“I’m really looking forward to Sunday,” he said. “It’s a blessing we’ve got this game and it’s nice they’ve decided to use it as a send-off.

“The early indications I’ve received from people around the club is that they’re wishing me well, so it’ll be good to say goodbye to the fans.

“This is possibly the biggest effort we have put into organising this game, getting players from a number of clubs involved, and for that reason the club wants to make sure it goes ahead.”

The club have been covering the pitch with frost sheets borrowed from Bradford Bulls.

Sunday’s game will see the Cougars take on a selection of players from Keighley Albion, Keighley Town, Silsden and even Keighley RUFC.

It will also be a chance for a handful of Cougars’ recent signings to make their first outing for the club.

Anthony Henderson, Dave Emmott, Jon Simpson, Paul Drake, Rick Barr and Ryan Smith have all arrived during the winter.

“They are flying at the moment,” said Eaton. “We got the chance to do our first field session last Friday and we got another one in on Tuesday, which was good.

“They’ve been really looking forward to it and had been busting a gut to get out on the field in training.”
