Keighley Cougars go into tomorrow's clash with fellow strugglers Dewsbury revitalised after bringing an end to their losing streak.

The Cougars drew 16-16 with Sheffield on Friday to halt a run of four straight league defeats and leave the Rams as the only Championship side to have lost all their games so far.

A late Danny Jones penalty secured a share of the spoils and Cougars chief Barry Eaton insists avoiding another loss was as important as winning.

He said: “I think it was a moral victory. We’ve made great strides over the last couple of weeks. It was probably as important we didn’t lose and that’s one of the reasons we took the two at the end.

“One or two players wanted to run the play and try and score but if we hadn’t done it would have left us deflated.

“We had Monday in mind and Thursday in mind and the players are pretty upbeat. Potentially that could help us turn a massive corner.”

Keighley will be sweating on the fitness of Nathan Massey (shoulder) and Daley Williams (calf) after both went off injured on Friday.

Castleford prop Massey made an impressive debut against Sheffield after signing a dual-registration deal earlier in the week.
