COUGARS have signed prop Jose Kenga from League One rivals Hunslet.

The 22-year-old arrives following an 18-month spell in south Leeds, in which time he made 14 appearances under three different coaches and helped Hunslet win the League One Shield last season.

Born in Congo, Kenga began his rugby league career at amateur outfit Hunslet Warriors before being signed to the scholarship programme at Leeds Rhinos.

After being released by the Headingley club at the end of 2011, he spent three years with Sheffield Eagles reserve grade before joining Dewsbury Rams in 2015.

He spent 18 months in the Rams reserves and was part of the side who stunned Leigh Centurions in the 2015 Grand Final to clinch the Reserves Championship.

Last year saw Kenga make two appearances on loan at the University of Gloucestershire All Golds prior to making his move to Huslet in July 2016.

Kenga has been allocated the number 31 jersey for Cougars.
