Peter Roe will concentrate on building Cougars' profile now he has stepped down from coaching duties.

Keighley's director of rugby worked alongside player-coach Barry Eaton on football matters last season but is taking a back seat in 2007.

Roe said: "I've handed full coaching reigns over to Barry and I've every faith in his ability to take Keighley forward.

"He's the right man to take over a young squad.

"I brought him to the club when I came back last year. We'd had a massive exodus of players and I had to advise the board about what to do.

"We needed a half-back as we lost Matty Firth to Rochdale and Barry fitted the bill.

"But one of the enticements for him was a coaching role as well, as he was keen to move into that field.

"He probably did three quarters of the coaching last year but now Barry's in full charge of selection, tactics, incomings and outgoings.

"He's running the full show and doing a great job."

Roe explained: "I'm director of rugby but I don't interfere. I know what it's like to have interference and I won't go down that road.

"It doesn't serve any purpose and I'll let him get on with it."

Now in his third spell at home-town Keighley, Roe will continue at Lawkholme Lane working behind the scenes.

He added: "My role here now is many-fold. I've always gone out on scouting missions and will continue to do that.

"I'll also help out forming a ground committee to tidy up the stadium and give our groundsman some help, while I'll be selling programme ads along with Alan Carter and bringing in some sponsorship.

"The main job now is building up the profile of the club. There's always been great potential in Keighley but we have to tap into it."
