Steeton’s game at Ashton Athletic last night was postponed due to a frozen pitch, in a fixture that almost seems destined never to be played.
The North West Counties Football League First Division North game was initially due to be held on Saturday, November 29.
But there were floodlight issues at Athletic’s Brocstedes Park ground at the time, so it had to be rearranged.
The new date was Tuesday, December 9, but the hosts were still having problems with their floodlights.
On this occasion, their neighbours Ashton Town stepped in to host the fixture.
But with Storm Bram sweeping across the country at the time, the game had to be called off anyway, meaning neither side were able to take advantage of Town’s generosity.
With the floodlights now fixed at Brocstedes Park, Athletic were due to finally host Steeton last night, but the fixture will now have to re-arranged again.
As if this was not enough, Steeton now don’t have a game until Saturday, January 17.
Their opponents that afternoon? Ashton Athletic at Marley.
Steeton do at least have an artificial surface, so surely the teams will finally face each other that day.

Though given what has gone before this season with these two sides, nothing is guaranteed.
The North West Counties’ midweek programme was decimated by the bad weather, with Steeton’s game far from the only one to fall by the wayside.
But whether it be by luck or good judgement, no Northern Counties East League fixtures were pencilled in at all this midweek, an extremely rare occurrence.
Only a handful of games were able to be played on Saturday, including Thackley’s draw with Bottesford Town and Albion Sports’ defeat at Handsworth.
But there was always due to be a six-day break thereafter, with the next game at that level being the NCEL Premier Division clash this Friday between West Yorkshire rivals Horbury Town and Golcar United.
In the Northern Premier Leagues, none of Bradford (Park Avenue), Silsden, Brighouse Town or Guiseley are due back in action until this Saturday either.
