ECCLESHILL United have made it through in the FA Cup after winning a dramatic extra preliminary round replay.
Having drawn 1-1 at Vauxhall Motors on Saturday, both teams reconvened in Wrose last night and played out a thriller.
Harvey Booth put the Bradford side in front after only three minutes, but Motors, who famously knocked QPR out of the cup in 2002, hit back well.
They equalised just before half-time through a Ben Holmes penalty, before Connor Rankin put them ahead just a minute after the break.
The hosts hit the post, while Vauxhall keeper Jack Atkinson made some outstanding saves to keep his side ahead, as it looked like it would not be the Bradford side’s night.
But former Steeton man Josh McKiernon finally levelled for Eccleshill with a quarter of an hour go to tee up a thrilling finish.
And it was the hosts who snatched a 3-2 victory, Talent Ndlovu forcing an own goal in the final minute.
Lee Elam’s Eagles will now travel to face Mossley in the preliminary round on Saturday, August 17.
Brighouse Town lost their FA Cup replay though, despite Myron Gibbons scoring twice as they came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 against visitors Barnoldswick Town.
With no goals in extra-time, the game went to penalties, and Barlick were perfect from the spot, winning the shootout 5-3.
Elsewhere in midweek, Thackley suffered a frustrating evening, drawing 2-2 at Bottesford Town in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
Jos Bradshaw put the visitors ahead before an own goal doubled the Bradford side’s lead.
But the Dennyboys conceded twice in the final quarter of the game and had to settle for a point.
Silsden were dominating their game at Tadcaster Albion, despite being 1-0 down, but then Jake Cassidy was sent off after bringing down his man and conceding a penalty.
Taddy converted from 12 yards and went on to beat the Cobbydalers’ 10 men 3-1, Kayle Price grabbing a late consolation for the visitors.
Albion Sports were not in midweek NCEL action, but they do play tomorrow night, with their game against Bottesford switched to Scunthorpe due to Horsfall’s unavailability.
Finally, over in the North West Counties Football League First Division North, Steeton hosted their tenants Route One Rovers in the ‘Marley Derby’.
Bradford side Route One came out on top, Umar Ali and Atta Rehman both scoring first-half penalties.
Jacob Smith halved the deficit for Steeton after the break, but they could not find an equaliser.
