SILSDEN brought themselves to within two points of the playoff places after a statement comeback victory against local rivals Albion Sports on Saturday.

Goals from former Bradford City men, Ellis Hudson and Jake Maltby ensured the visitors came away with all three points despite going behind after just six minutes of the contest through a Robbie Fox strike.

The win for Silsden has seen them rise to 6th in the NCEL Premier Division table, two points off Garforth Town in 5th, whilst Albion sit nine points off Campion at the summit of the division, although they do have two games in hand on their Bradford rivals.

It was another thoroughly dominant performance for the league leaders on Saturday too, as they saw off playoff hopefuls, Frickley Athletic by a scoreline of 6-2.

Marcus Day, who is the current top goal scorer in the NCEL Premier Division, added a further hat-trick to his tally to take his total to 24 goals in all competitions.

Nicky Boshell, Joseph Colley and Patrick Sykes also scored for Campion to round off a fine afternoon for Lee Ashforth’s side.

For Eccleshill United, they fell to a 2-1 defeat in a huge clash towards the foot of the table at home to Bottesford Town on Saturday, having gone in front as well.

A Talent Ndlovu strike put the hosts ahead after ten minutes, but a second half equaliser from Bottesford’s Josh Eccles and an own goal from Eccleshill’s goal scorer earned the visitors a precious 2-1 win.

The defeat for The Eagles now means they only sit one point ahead of last weekend’s opponents in 17th, only one place above the relegation zone too.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, a Thomas Greaves brace resulted in Thackley getting a 2-2 draw away at Tadcaster Albion after being pegged back twice. Danny Forrest’s side travel to take on high-flyers Emley this evening with the game getting underway at 7:45 pm.

In the NWCFL over the weekend, Barnoldswick Town drew 2-2 at home to Squires Gate in the Premier Division.

In First Division North, Steeton’s miserable continued with a 2-1 defeat at Daisy Hill, while Ilkley Town suffered a 3-0 beating at FC St Helens.

Route One Rovers didn’t have a fixture and return to action on Saturday when they travel to take on Ilkley.

Elsewhere, Liversedge beat Ashington 2-0 away from home, Brighouse Town were edged 3-1 at home to Stockton and Guiseley were thrashed 5-1 away at Macclesfield.
